The Friends of Ir David (City of David) offers you the opportunity, to benefit yourself while benefiting the City of David, through Charitable Gift Annuities ("CGA").

The CGA allows you to enjoy your gift to the City of David during your lifetime through annuity payments made to YOU. The gift you make will be an investment in your future, and in the future of Jerusalem. The interest rate on your annuity is fixed and guaranteed. It does not fluctuate with the highs and the lows of the stock market.

The CGA rate varies with age. For example,

The income can be paid to you or to another individual of your choice. It can also benefit more than one person.

The CGA can be funded with cash, bonds or stocks.

In addition to the guaranteed income, you will receive tax benefits which will result in the income being entirely or mostly tax free.

After enjoying a lifetime of income, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that the remaining balance will support the many programs of the City of David.

Martha Katz wanted to support the educational programs of the City of David. She was concerned that if she parted with her assets, she may need some of them for her future support. In order to accomplish her financial and philanthropic goals, Martha invested in a $25,000 CGA with the City of David.

At age 80, she has peace of mind, knowing that for the rest of her life, she will receive a guaranteed rate of 7.1% on her investment, paying her $1,775 each year regardless of the fluctuations of the stock market.

Martha’s annuity is worth more than $1,775 per year because she will be receiving $1,409 of it tax free annually. The balance of the income, $366, will not be subject to income tax because of the $11,753 tax deduction Martha will receive. She can spread this deduction over the course of six years, reducing her tax liability on other income as well.
The effective rate of return on Martha’s investment is 12.1%.
Where else could Martha get a guaranteed return that high?

Lastly, Martha can be assured that a gift will be made to the City of David after her lifetime, enabling her to support the excavations which are so important to her.
